RIGA, Feb 19 (LETA) - A decision on the XII Latvian School Youth Song and Dance Festival will be made at the end of April, although one of the possible options is that it could be held locally in the regions and participation will be voluntary, Education Minister Ilga Suplinska (New Conservative Party) told TV3 this morning.

"We understand that we will not be able to gather in a large mass together for the festival, so everyone who wishes to preserve the Song and Dance Festival traditions, and has the desire to simply gather, sing and dance their repertoire, thus spreading the energy of the festival across regions, could voluntarily participate," the minister said.

As reported, the organizing committee of the XII Latvian School Youth Song and Dance Festival and the Song Festival Council last year decided to postpone the festival from the summer of 2020 to 2021.
