Valka municipality to send bus with humanitarian aid to Mariupol
RIGA, Sept 13 (LETA) - In response to a request of Ukraine's Mariupol administration, Valka municipality at an extraordinary financial committee meeting on Monday supported the proposal to send a school bus Neoplan with the first necessity goods to Mariupol, LETA learned from Ivo Leitis, spokesman of Valka municipality.
Due to Russia's war in Ukraine, more than 150,000 residents of Mariupol have left their city, finding shelter in other Ukrainian territories. As the new school year starts, they need transport to school.
Leitis said that the school bus has not been used for a while for the needs of Valka pupils.
The local government has asked residents to donate new households goods, including bed linen, pillows, blankets, kitchen utensils, etc.
