Starting tomorrow, hospitals of Kuldiga, Cesis, Aluksne, Madona, Kraslava, Preili will also admit Covid-19 patients
RIGA, Oct 19 (LETA) - Starting tomorrow, hospitals of Kuldiga, Cesis, Aluksne, Madona, Kraslava and Preili will also admit Covid-19 patients, Health Ministry's state secretary Indra Dreika told at the government meeting today.
The Health Ministry is also holding negotiations with The Hospital of Traumatology and Orthopaedics, Riga Hospital No. 1, Ogre regional hospital, Sigulda hospital and Jurmala hospital on admission of Covid-19 patients.
Dreika said that today there are 1,286 beds for Covid-19 patients available. In line with the worst scenario, 1,500 Covid-19 beds will be necessary already on October 23, and in line with the best scenario - on October 27.
As reported, in an interview with the Latvijas Avize newspaper today, the head of Daugavpils Hospital Grigorijs Semjonovs said that the hospital is approaching capacity limit - there are currently at least 190 hospital beds being used by Covid-19 patients, and the hospital can free-up a maximum of 260 beds for these patients.
