RIGA, April 12 (LETA) - Janis Lange, CEO of Latvijas Valsts Mezi (LVC) state road manager and a member of Unity party, who has been picked in a tender as the best candidate for Riga city executive director, will receive a monthly wage of EUR 2,438 and a bonus payment at the amount of 100 percent of the wage, said Riga Mayor Martins Stakis (For/Progressives) in an interview with commercial TV3 television today.

He said that the wage of the executive director - EUR 2,438 a month - is not too motivating, but the law allows to pay a 100 percent bonus payment to officials with a strategic function. "I can tell that we will definitely do it," the Riga mayor said.

Stakis said that after Lange takes on the position of the executive director, he will be able to keep his positions at the supervisory board of Latvijas Dzelzcels railway company if the Riga City Council and the Transport Ministry allows it. "It is possible. If he is a supervisory board member, they have meetings not more often than once a month, and these positions can be combined," the Riga mayor said.

As reported, Lange has been picked in a tender as the best candidate for Riga city executive director.

In 2013, Lange ran in local elections on the Unity ticket and was elected to Jelgava City Council.

Lange became LVC CEO in 2013. In 2018 he became chairman of the supervisory board of Latvijas Dzelzcels (Latvian Railways) national rail company.

A tender was organized to select a new Riga city executive director after Iveta Zalpetere left the post on December 2, citing personal reasons.
