New Unity remains in power in Salaspils municipality
Riga, June 8 (LETA) - The New Unity has won the local elections in Salaspils municipality, according to data published by the Central Election Commission (CVK).
Counting the votes in all five polling stations in Salaspils municipality, New Unity received 34.46 percent of the votes, which gives it five seats.
The joint list of the National Alliance and the Union of Greens and Farmers is in the second place with 24.3 percent of the votes, winning four seats.
Latvia's Green Party came third with 13.42 percent of the votes, winning two seats, followed by the joint list of Sovereign Power and New Latvians with 11.25 percent of the votes, also securing two seats. Latvia First also won two seats in the municipal council with 9.75 percent of the vote.
In the current term of the Salaspils Regional Council, eight seats are held by the New Unity, three by Latvia's Green Party, three by the National Alliance, the Latvian Association of Regions and the Latvian Farmers' Union, and one by the Harmony party.
