Quarantine declared at Jekabpils Prison over Covid-19 outbreak
RIGA, Jan 28 (LETA) - A quarantine has been declared at Jekabpils Prison from January 27 to February 17 to stem a Covid-19 outbreak, LETA was told at the Latvian Prison Administration.
The quarantine order has been approved by the Health Ministry.
Routine testing at the prison in eastern Latvia has revealed 11 Covid-19 cases among inmates and 40 persons have been identified as their contacts.
Measures are being taken in cooperation with the penitentiary system's medical personnel to contain the outbreak. The infected inmates have been isolated from others and their contacts have been traced.
The Prison Administration has set up a special commission to coordinate the quarantine measures.
