RIGA, Dec 23 (LETA) - Police are also looking into possible arson or a mishap as the cause of the recent fire which completely razed a Depo hardware store in Rezekne, LETA was informed by Anastasija Laizane, spokeswoman of the State Police's Latgale Regional Department.

According to her, the police are investigating all possible causes of the fire. A version of both arson or a mishap is being looked into.

"The police are continuing the investigation and moving forward with all the necessary criminal proceedings," Laizane said, without providing more information about the criminal proceedings and the investigation.

As reported, a massive fire broke out at a Depo hardware store in Rezekne on December 12, and it was fully extinguished almost a week later. The State Police has initiated criminal proceedings under Chapter 18 of the Criminal Law - criminal offenses against property.
