RIGA, Feb 12 (LETA) - Covid-19 outbreak has been detected in Akniste health and social care center, LETA learned from Akniste local government spokeswoman Lasma Prande.

There are 42 clients in the social care center, and just some of them had negative Covid-19 tests. Also some employees, especially in the catering bloc, have caught the virus.

According to Prande, the social care center's board member Ivars Eiduks has asked the local government for support because the center cannot ensure catering services due to the Covid-19 outbreak. Meals to the center are now delivered by another caterer.

The building of the health and social care centers also houses family physicians and other medical specialists.

According to the data of the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC), on Wednesday there were 32 new Covid-19 cases in Akniste county, while in the past two weeks, the number of Covid-19 cases has risen to 54. The 14-day cumulative Covid-19 incidence in Akniste county is one of the highest in Latvia.
