Share of positive Covid-19 tests rises to 4% on 2nd day of crowd testing in Gulbene region
RIGA, Mar 12 (LETA) - The second day of crowd testing in the Gulbene region on March 10 returned 30 positive Covid-19 tests, which is 4 percent of the 751 saliva samples collected on that day, said Gulbene region spokeswoman Gunta Kalmane.
On the first day of crowd testing in Gulbene the share of positive tests was 2.8 percent.
On Thursday, March 11, another 805 test kits were distributed to residents of the Gulbene region. Today, they are expected to submit their saliva samples by 13:00 at one 17 collection points.
Kalmane said that the results of crowd testing have yet to be analyzed but this will be done as soon as all test results are received.
"Municipal police are closely monitoring people's compliance with the restrictions introduced in the country. The situation in municipal institutions has not worsened and there is no panic among local residents either," Kalmane said.
According to the data from the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC), the cumulative 14-day number of Covid-19 cases in the Gulbene region is currently 162.
As reported, due to a rise in Covid-19 incidence, crowd testing has been started in Gulbene, Balvi, Baltinava, Vilaka and Rugaji.
People may receive and submit test samples free of charge.
