Occupancy of Covid-19 beds at Latvia's hospitals keeps growing
RIGA, Feb 15 (LETA) - Occupancy of Covid-19 beds at Latvia's hospitals has continued to grow over the past week, the Health Ministry said in a report to the government.
In the week from February 7 to 13, patients had filled 70 percent of hospital beds, and by February 14 the occupancy rate had risen to 73 percent.
Occupancy of therapy beds rose from 56 percent last week to 59 percent this week. Last week, Covid-19 patients had filled 75 percent of designated beds, and by February 14 the occupancy of Covid-19 beds had risen to 77 percent.
At present, the occupancy of hospital beds has surpassed 80 percent at several hospitals. Patients have filled 89 percent of beds at Pauls Stradins Clinical University Hospital, 87 percent at the Children's Clinical University Hospital, 104 percent at Tukums Hospital, 96 percent at Riga Psychiatric and Narcology Center and Jelgava Hospital and 93 percent at the Hospital Gintermuiza in Jelgava.
Occupancy of hospital beds has reached 88 percent at Vidzeme Hospital, 81 percent at Cesis Clinic, 83 percent at Rezekne Hospital, 80 percent at the Talsi branch of Northern Kurzeme Regional Hospital in Ventspils and 86 percent at Piejura Hospital in Liepaja.
At several hospitals, occupancy of ICU beds is also above 80 percent. Occupancy of ICU beds has reached 81 percent at Riga Eastern Clinical University Hospital, 77 percent at Pauls Stradins Clinical University Hospital, 100 percent at Tukums Hospital, 88 percent at Jelgava City Hospital, 100 percent at the Balvi and Gulbene Hospital Association and 100 percent at Kuldiga Hospital.
