STUTTGART, April 21 (LETA) - In the final of the Stuttgart WTA 500 series tennis tournament today, Latvia's Alona Ostapenko defeated Aryna Sabalenka 6-4, 6-1.

At the moment, Ostapenko is ranked 24th in the WTA rankings, while Sabalenka is ranked first in the world.

This was the first victory for Ostapenko on a clay court since she triumphed at the 2017 French Open.

This was the first victory for Ostapenko at Stuttgart, who best performance previously was a spot in the quarterfinals in 2018.
