Latvia notches first win at EuroBasket 2025
RIGA, Aug 29 (LETA) - Latvian national men's basketball team defeated Estonia 72:70 (17:21, 21:21, 25:19, 9:9) in a preliminary round match at EuroBasket 2025 in Riga on Friday.
Kristaps Porzingis led the way for Latvia with 22 points, while Kristian Kullamae was the highest scorer for Estonia with 15 points.
In another Group A game on Friday, Turkey defeated Czech Republic 92:78.
At the moment, Turkey is in first place in Group A with two wins from two games, followed by Latvia with one win and one loss. The third Group A match today between Serbia and Portugal will begin at 21:15 tonight.
As reported, Latvia opened the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 group phase with a 73:93 loss to Turkey on Wednesday.
Latvia will now play Serbia on August 30, Portugal on September 1 and the Czech Republic on September 3. All matches will start at 6 p.m.
FIBA EuroBasket 2025 got underway with the group phase played from August 27 to September 5, before the knockout and medal stage being held solely in Riga from September 6 to 14.
