Valdusa appointed head of Traumatology and Orthopedics Hospital
RIGA, Oct 9 (LETA) - Kristīne Valdusa has been appointed chairwoman of the board of the Traumatology and Orthopedics Hospital, the Health Ministry informed LETA.
Valdusa was selected for the job in an open competition. She will take up the position on October 10. A new head of the board has been appointed as the previous board chairwoman Anita Vaivode's term of office expired on February 17.
According to the Health Ministry, Valdusa is a manager with experience in production, planning and quality assurance procedures, as well as in change management. In recent years, she has worked at several companies, including Aptiekas Produkcija, Sentor Farm Aptiekas, Latvijas Aptieka, both at management level and as a department head.
Valdusa is also a lecturer at the Red Cross Medical College of Riga Stradins University. She has also been a member of national examination commissions of universities and other medical education institutions, assessing students' knowledge and professional skills.
Valdusa has a Master's degree in Social Sciences and a Master's degree in Health Sciences, both from the University of Latvia.
Eight applications were considered for the post of the Traumatology and Orthopedics Hospital's board chairperson in three competition rounds.
The hospital provides primary and secondary care in cases of skeletal injuries, the prevention of complicated injuries, and orthopedic and reconstructive surgeries in various types of skeletal and joint diseases.
The Traumatology and Orthopedics Hospital closed 2024 with a loss of EUR 545,692, according to the hospital's management report for 2024.
